Quad XS Hockey Skate Profiling
Lightning Toe. Ninja Cuts.
Service Description
Quad XS (6′–9′–11′–12′) hockey skate profiling is the most agile member of the quad family, featuring a very short toe radius that snaps you into edges instantly, blending into progressively longer mid/heel zones for control when you open up. It feels electric up front—explosive first steps, razor-tight turns, cutbacks on a dime—while the blended rear keeps you composed enough to accelerate out of traffic and push through the neutral zone. Best for: Shifty wingers / small-ice specialists who live on micro-cuts and quick direction changes, Faceoff gurus and puck thieves who need instant bite and lateral bursts, Lighter skaters or players building edge power who want immediate feedback. What it trades: Less top-end glide and straight-line calm than larger Quads (0/1/2) or long singles (11′–13′). Can feel “busy” if you prefer a smoother, one-arc roll (consider SSM Natural Curve). Dial-in tips (optional): Pitch: slight forward to emphasize toe pop (ease back if toe feels too hot) Hollow: 1/2″–5/8″ to match the quick, grippy front end Runner length: on shorter runners, XS shines; on long runners, consider Quad 0 to avoid over-lively toe Next steps if you want to tweak: Want a touch more glide/stability? Move Quad XS → Quad 0 (and/or go one step shallower on hollow). Want similar agility with a smoother single-curve feel? Test Natural Curve Quick 10' with a slight toe bias. If you love the toe but wash out in battles, try Quad 1 for a calmer heel platform. All profiling is performed on the SSM Profile Machine. After profiling, the steel will need to be sharpened to a specified hollow. In most cases, profiling and sharpening can both be done for next-day pickup.
