Quad 0.5 Hockey Skate Profiling
Tame the Toe. Keep the Pop.
Service Description
Quad 0.5 (8'-10'-12'-14') hockey skate profiling dials the toe back from Quad 0 (≈8′ toe vs. 0’s ≈6′) so entry onto edge feels less twitchy and more linear, while the mid/heel still delivers smooth crossover flow and steady glide. It’s the sweet bridge between Quad 0 and Quad 1—you keep quick starts and tight cuts, but with a calmer front end that carries speed through the neutral zone more easily. Best for: Players who like Quad 0 agility but want the toe to feel less “busy,” wings/centers who attack off the toe, then need a composed mid-ice glide, standard–long runners (263–288 mm) that benefit from a slightly calmer toe without jumping straight to Quad 1. What it trades: Gives up a bit of micro-cut snap vs. Quad 0 Still more lively up front than Quad 1, so not as “locked-in” at high speed as 1/2 or long singles Dial-in tips (optional): Pitch: ~20 mm. If the toe feels too hot, reduce the effective pitch slightly. Hollow: 5/8″–11/16″ to balance bite and glide Runner length: on 281–296 mm, 0.5 stays balanced; if you feel too anchored, consider Quad 1 for more heel calm Next steps if you want to tweak: Need more instant snap? Go 0.5 → 0 (or deepen hollow one step). Want more glide/stability at pace? Go 0.5 → 1 (and/or one step shallower on hollow). Prefer a seamless single-curve feel? Try Natural Curve Quick (10′ core) with a light toe bias. All profiling is performed on the SSM Profile Machine. After profiling, the steel will need to be sharpened to a specified hollow. In most cases, profiling and sharpening can both be done for next-day pickup. Please call or text if you have additional questions
